The church of St John the Baptist in Horrabridge has been working together with the Methodist Church since the Methodist church in the village closed ten years ago. Horrabridge is a village of around 3000 people, with a village general stores and post office, and various other businesses such as a hairdressers, art gallery etc.  There are two pubs and a takeaway fish and chip shop.  The primary school has over 200 pupils and was rated outstanding at the last Ofsted inspection, and this attracts young families to the village. There is a large serving and ex-services community, who turn out in force for the annual Remembrance Day service.

The church was built in 1893 and the porch was added in 1913-14.  It has a Grade II* listing.  It is very much valued by the village, particularly older members of the community,  many of whom used to attend regularly as children. The heating system is efficient and visitors often comment on the warmth (physical and spiritual) of the church.  A kitchen was incorporated into the church about five years ago and this has enabled us to do much more in the way of fundraising by giving us the opportunity to provide refreshments and outreach events.  There is a modern four bedroomed rectory adjoining the church, which is occasionally used for meetings and house groups.
