St Mary’s Sampford Spiney excelled themselves with their Summer Barbecue and Jazz Evening held at Stoneycroft in Sampford Spiney on 18th June. It was a real community event with Horrabridge Cavaliers in charge of the Barbecue and a Jazz Band providing the musical entertainment. Too many people to mention individually were involved in setting up, and then delivering the evening, although special mention must go to Simon Hill for masterminding the whole evening.

A Raffle and Auction also added to the evening with Michael Doidge using his skills to the full, to ensure people parted with their cash for a number of auction lots including rides on vintage tractors and cars:

The weather was cool but dry and over 200 people enjoyed sitting in the early evening sun.
