Open the Book is a Bible Society project enabling pupils to hear stories from the Bible in school in their primary years. It is a free service given to each school by a team of volunteers from local churches who present the stories during collective Worship. The West Dartmoor Mission Community team has seven members who plan and present Bible stories to pupils at Lady Modiford’s School in Walkhampton and Meavy School. The presentation involves an introduction, a story-telling including acting out with some of the children involved, a conclusion and prayers. The presentation is supported with PowerPoint visual aids and an “Open the Book” song.

Currently, the team have been recording the stories and Corrine has put the voices together with the powerpoints. The schools are being provided with a weekly story. We are planning in the Autumn to be back in school every three weeks with recordings on the other weeks. (6/8/22)
